Hello Everyone,
I just needed to tell everyone want I experienced today. That was the gift of life. My sister-in-law, who has struggled to get her life together, had a baby today. And I was her coach. It was the most incredible thing I have ever done in my life. However any woman on this board who has given birth will really hate this.
But I got the call at 11:30am that she was going to the hospital just to be checked and to see if they were going to admit her. I was called at noon that they were but I had a doctor's appointment so I went to it. When I left my appointment they called me and told me to get there now. I was so afraid I wasn't gonna make it. This is no lie, I walked in right behind the doctor and as he was scrubbing up I started helping her with her breathing and he got into position and broke her water and he told her to push and I was holding her hand and telling her to push and that was it. I was an aunt. I am not kidding it took five minutes. I told her that when she leaves the hosital on Sunday that there was going to be a lot of woman out there to beat her up. But anyway I am a aunt to a lovely baby girl (which by the way it the first girl in the family in 19 years.) My step-daughter was the last one. Her name is Onnika Carol Russell (after my Mother-in-Law)and she weighed 6 lbs 15 ounces. and 19 1/2 inches long.

You can watch a hundred movies and sit through all the classes you want, but when you're actually there, in the room, watching a new life come into the world, it makes everything else we do seem petty by comparison.
Congrats Aunt Dawn

Thanks everyone,
They come home today (pretty soon actually). I can't wait. I will probably be at her house all the time. Or here with Onnika. And you are right Sportyfan, that was the greatest thing I ever witnessed in my life. Except for when I had Drew which was a big comedy all caught on tape. And Cherie, I kind of had Drew all natural except they gave me Newbain (to slow down my contractions) because it was taking the doctor forever to get there. But again thanks everyone I really appreicate it. Now I have to go help take care of a little

Love to everyone
Dawn
